The Australian Standard AS1851-2012 for Maintenance of Fire Protection Systems and Equipment states that maintenance records must be produced on demand by an authorised Fire Officer. With the number of alarming incidents in recent years, these random checks are becoming more the norm than the exception.
A number of the Fire Safety Installations are seen as critical to the safety systems in a building and are referred to as Special Fire Services. The results of the testing of Special Fire Services must be recorded in a Certificate of Maintenance/Occupiers Statement which must be forwarded to the Commissioner of the Fire Service after each 12 months’ worth of testing
